ASP was originally formed in 1979 as Associated Sound Products by Steve Foley and David Emory. The company’s original focus was on concert production and audio equipment rental throughout North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. They were fortunate enough to work with some of the largest names in the music industry throughout the ’80s and ’90s.
In those early days, Steve and David had a knack for searching out new and innovative manufacturers of Audio gear and became early dealers for such names as QSC, Fostex, Symmetrix, DDA, Allen and Heath, MacPherson and more. Many of these brands became staples in the Concert systems as well as in the multitrack studio that emerged in the 80s.
Fast forward to 1999 … Bob Blair and Bert Rogers of Sound World, a Cary-based company that specialized in equipment rental and AV installs, joined forces with original owners Steve and David. The company, then located on Creekside Drive in Raleigh, still provided concert audio production to regional and national bands throughout the Southeast but also added AV installs to the mix.
Eventually in 2003, David and Steve left to pursue other interests while Bob and Bert continued to focus on the install and rental businesses. 2003 also saw the company name change to ASP Integrated Systems to better reflect the business’s focus on systems integration. Over the next several years ASP was involved in several church A/V/L installs in Central NC, most notably, Hope Community Church in Raleigh and C3 Church in Clayton. As a result of the Hope install, Bob began a working relationship with the church that would span the next 12 years, eventually leading to a full time position as Technical Arts Director in 2010.
During that time, the company all but went dormant as Bob concentrated on his duties at Hope and Bert began playing bass in several noteworthy local bands.In March of 2015, Bob left Hope and once again focused his energies on ASP.
In its’ current form, ASP will concentrate on providing two different – but related – services: First, in the area of sales, ASP will be able to offer competitive pricing on nearly every major manufacturer of Audio, Lighting, and Video gear! We will not operate with a store front this time out, but this “slimmed down” approach will allow ASP to compete with all the “big boys” and internet retailers. Secondly, as a consultant, ASP will concentrate on offering effective, cost-efficient solutions to AVL problems faced by the House of Worship market. In addition, ASP will offer consulting in the areas of IT, Stage Design and even Worship Service Planning.
